Today I received my Bachelor Certificate with the Academic Title of “Bachelor of Internet Business Engineering”. This now concludes the official end of my study at the University of Applied Sciences in Jena, Germany, and at the Polytechnic of Namibia.
I already successfully defended my B.Tech Thesis way back on April the 26th, but it took a while for my University to actually get everything right, for example the recognition of all my marks obtained in Namibia, and to finally issue my degree.
The topic of my Bachelor Thesis was the “Implementation of a Regional Namibian Web Portal”. Here is the link to the corresponding portal, nevertheless the functionality of the current version will slightly differ from the one which I presented and defended, because the portal is actively being used in Namibia:
This journal covers the hasty preparation and the first Semester of my stay as an Exchange Student at the Polytechnic of Namibia. My official study period at the Polytechnic ended in December 2004, but I stayed in Namibia until March 2005.
While I was able to keep up with current journal entries at the beginning of my stay, I decided in January 2004 to discontinue the journal. This was basically because I started to work Full Time in Namibia while I was still busy finishing my study.
The Journal will remain here for interested visitors, but will not be updated anymore in the future.
Looking back, I can say my student exchange was truly unforgettable. Throughout my whole stay I was able to experience Namibia as a wonderful country with great hospitality.
Staying at the Student Hostel, I was fully integrated into student and campus life and quickly found many new friends which introduced me to the Namibian culture and way of life far beyond a visitor would ever imagine.
I’m very grateful for all the wonderful experiences which I had throughout my stay and which I could take with me! Thank you Namibia!
